Our Story
The Alkaré Story
Named after the two most important people in my life.
For years, every trip back to Sydney from Yerevan ended the same way — a carefully packed selection of favourite chocolates tucked into my luggage, enough to bring a little joy home with me. Those chocolate-covered dried apricots, figs, almonds and walnuts became part of a ritual I looked forward to after every visit. They were more than just sweets. They reminded me of family, familiar places, and the simple happiness that certain flavours can bring.
Over time, I realised how difficult it was to find these kinds of premium chocolate creations in Australia. That thought stayed with me and slowly grew into an idea. I started in my kitchen with ingredients I already loved — dried fruits, nuts, and chocolate — experimenting, learning, and refining every detail. After countless batches, I discovered premium Belgian couverture chocolate, and everything finally came together.
"There would often be a brief moment of silence after the first bite, followed by smiles and requests for more. That quiet moment became the greatest compliment I could receive."
What emerged wasn't an attempt to recreate something from the past. It became something uniquely my own — combining beautiful ingredients, traditional handcrafting, and a deep appreciation for quality. And so, Alkaré was born. Named after the two most important people in my life — my son Albert and my husband Karén — Alkaré is a labour of love. Every piece is handcrafted in Sydney using premium ingredients and made with the hope of creating moments worth sharing.
